MaPrimeRénov' roofing grants 2026: the complete guide

FDM ENERGIE Experts·April 21, 2026·10 min

Financial assistance for roof renovation MaPrimeRénov 2026

What is MaPrimeRénov'?

MaPrimeRénov' is the French government's energy renovation grant scheme, managed by ANAH (Agence Nationale de l'Habitat), enabling owner-occupiers and landlords to fund insulation and roofing renovation works, subject to income conditions and the use of an RGE-certified contractor.

France's energy renovation policy continues in 2026 with a comprehensive set of grants and incentives for insulation and roofing work. Understanding these schemes can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs and maximise the return on your roof renovation investment.

Main grants available in 2026

1. MaPrimeRénov' — the primary state grant

MaPrimeRénov' is a premium paid directly to the contractor (deducted from your invoice) or reimbursed after work completion. The amount depends on your income category and the type of work.

Eligible roofing works:

  • Loft floor insulation (blown or batt insulation)
  • Rafter insulation (sarking or under-rafter)
  • Flat roof insulation

Indicative amounts for loft insulation in 2026:

Income profileGrant (€/m²)Cap
Very low income (Blue)€25/m²75% of total cost
Low income (Yellow)€20/m²60% of total cost
Middle income (Purple)€15/m²45% of total cost
High income (Pink)Not eligible for insulation alone

General conditions:

  • The property must be your primary residence (or a rental property in France)
  • The dwelling must be at least 15 years old
  • Works must be carried out by an RGE-certified contractor
  • Application must be submitted before work begins

2. CEE — Energy Savings Certificates

CEE bonuses are paid by energy suppliers (EDF, Engie, TotalEnergies, etc.) in exchange for energy-saving works. They complement MaPrimeRénov'.

For roof insulation (operations BAR-EN-06 and BAR-EN-04):

  • Variable amount depending on the energy supplier and climate zone
  • In Île-de-France (zone H1), bonuses are generally higher
  • Indicative amount: €10–25/m² depending on the supplier's scale

Your RGE contractor can usually handle the CEE application on your behalf.

3. Eco-PTZ — Zero-Interest Eco-Renovation Loan

The Eco-PTZ lets you finance energy renovation works interest-free, repayable over up to 20 years.

2026 conditions:

  • Property built before 1 January 1990 (or 2001 if EPC rating F or G)
  • Maximum loan: €50,000 for a package of works
  • Roof insulation works eligible on their own since 2020
  • Combinable with MaPrimeRénov' and CEE

Apply at your regular bank (most major French banks offer the Eco-PTZ).

4. Reduced VAT (10%)

For all renovation works in dwellings over 2 years old, VAT is 10% instead of 20%, representing a direct saving on your invoice. Roofing and insulation works qualify for this reduced rate.

2026 rule changes: what's new

The 2024–2025 MaPrimeRénov' reform strengthened the push towards comprehensive renovation (EPC before/after showing a minimum 2-class improvement). In 2026:

  • Single-measure works (insulation alone without energy audit) remain eligible but with less advantageous amounts for middle and high-income households
  • Comprehensive renovation with support from a Mon Accompagnateur Rénov' (MAR) advisor unlocks maximum amounts
  • A pre-works EPC (Diagnostic de Performance Énergétique) is strongly recommended to optimise your application

Step-by-step grant application guide

  1. Assess your property — get an EPC if yours is more than 10 years old.
  2. Create your MaPrimeRénov' account at maprimerenov.gouv.fr with your tax reference number. Check your income category.
  3. Choose an RGE-certified contractor — verify certification at faire.fr (official ADEME directory). FDM ENERGIE is RGE-certified.
  4. Get a detailed quote specifying materials' thermal performance (R-value for insulation), surface area treated, and the company's RGE qualification.
  5. Submit your application before works begin — upload your quote and required documents on the MaPrimeRénov' platform.
  6. Complete works and submit invoice — the premium is paid within a few weeks of invoice submission.

The essential role of RGE certification
