The 15th is the largest and most populous arrondissement in Paris, and its building stock spans both extremes: Haussmann blocks towards Commerce and Vaugirard, older faubourg fabric in Grenelle, and above all the towers and podium decks of Front de Seine and Beaugrenelle, built in the 1960s-70s, which carry very large flat roofs.
That large share of flat roofs explains the volume of waterproofing we carry out in the 15th: replacing ageing bituminous membranes, upstands, drainage and thermographic leak detection. How long does waterproofing last on a 1970s flat roof?
On the Front de Seine and Beaugrenelle blocks, the original bituminous membranes are past their service life: depending on the system, waterproofing lasts 15 to 30 years. Beyond that you see micro-cracks, blistering and failures at upstands. A survey, using thermography where needed, distinguishes a local repair from a full replacement.
Can I build a timber terrace at garden level in a co-ownership building?
Garden-level flats are more common in the 15th than in the central arrondissements. Building a terrace requires co-ownership approval whenever it affects common property or changes external appearance, plus a survey of the substrate before installation. We supply the technical documents needed for the general meeting.
